Citigroup launches AI tools for 140,000 employees across 8 countries

Citigroup has begun deploying new AI tools for 140,000 employees in the US, Canada, Hungary, India, Ireland, Poland, Singapore, and the UK—aiming to enhance internal productivity and streamline information access.

As reported by Reuters, the bank yesterday introduced two primary AI tools: Citi Assist and Citi Stylus.

Citi Assist helps employees navigate internal policies and procedures across human resources, risk, compliance, and finance—functioning like an intelligent internal resource. Citi Stylus can simultaneously summarize, compare, and search multiple documents.

Tim Ryan, head of technology and business enablement, told Reuters the bank will continuously review employee interactions to develop additional use cases. “These tools will help to simplify work and increase productivity,” Ryan said.

The initiative follows similar efforts by other financial institutions. Morgan Stanley has deployed a client-interaction chatbot, while Bank of America’s virtual assistant Erica focuses on retail client transactions.

Ryan, a recent PwC executive hire responsible for addressing the bank’s data management challenges, emphasized that these AI initiatives remain separate from ongoing infrastructure improvements mandated by regulatory consent orders.

For financial services and technology sectors, Citigroup’s rollout represents a strategic approach to integrating AI—focusing on targeted, practical applications that directly support employee workflow and organizational efficiency.
