A new Jobs Match tool helps job seekers evaluate if an opening is worth applying for, offering personalized recommendations. The platform, which processes over 9,000 job applications per minute, aims to help users cut through the overwhelming competition by making use of LinkedIn’s proprietary AI technology and vast dataset.
For small businesses, LinkedIn is launching an AI recruitment agent, a tool that simplifies tasks typically managed by full recruitment teams, including creating job postings, identifying qualified candidates, and streamlining application processes. These tools are available to all LinkedIn users, not just those with premium accounts.
Unlike earlier AI initiatives that relied on Microsoft-backed OpenAI technology, these new tools were built using LinkedIn’s in-house AI capabilities.
“Over time, we may integrate other data sources,” noted Rohan Rajiv, LinkedIn’s director of product management.
LinkedIn’s history with AI includes tools to enhance user engagement, such as conversation starters and profile-building prompts. However, the Jobs Match tool and recruitment agent focus on addressing deeper challenges in job matching and hiring efficiency. Currently, LinkedIn has 5 million users flagged as “Open to Work,” with 67 million actively job hunting weekly. On the business side, 2.5 million small businesses are using the platform to fill roles.
The move comes as LinkedIn faces pressure to retain its relevance in the hiring space. Many users find the current system inefficient, with hiring managers reportedly spending hours sifting through applications, half of which fail to meet basic requirements.
By offering these AI tools for free, LinkedIn aims to encourage broader platform engagement, especially as competition grows in both recruitment and professional networking. Whether these tools can transform LinkedIn’s user experience remains to be seen, but they signal the platform’s efforts to balance accessibility and utility at a critical time.
