Formerly known as Bing Chat Enterprise, the service is now called Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, offering a pay-as-you-go plan tailored for business organizations.
Built on OpenAI’s GPT-4, Copilot Chat provides various agentic AI features, including market research, meeting preparation, document summarization, and AI-generated images for social media campaigns via Copilot Pages. Users can also create and use AI agents to automate tasks like monitoring emails and gathering customer account details.
The cost of using these agents is based on the number of “messages” processed. Organizations can purchase messages through the Copilot Studio meter in Microsoft Azure, either as a pay-as-you-go option at US$0.01 per message or via pre-paid packs costing US$200 for 25,000 messages per month. As an illustration, a generative answer by an AI agent requires 2 messages.
Previously, these AI agents were exclusive to Microsoft’s full Copilot subscription, which cost US$30 per user per month and included access to AI features across Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The new Copilot Chat plan allows businesses to access these agents within the chat experience and pay based on usage, offering a flexible payment model that caters to businesses with varying needs.
Although Copilot Chat is not integrated into Office applications like Word and Excel, it is available through the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on Windows, Android, and iPhone, or via Microsoft 365 Copilot’s website.
This new plan offers a more adaptable solution for businesses, especially those with fluctuating demands or smaller teams, by charging only for what is used rather than a fixed monthly fee.
