As part of its most extensive update yet, Microsoft is transforming Copilot into a more dynamic AI assistant with new voice capabilities that allow users to engage in natural conversations, similar to OpenAI’s voice mode.
Copilot’s “Vision” feature also enables the assistant to interpret and respond to what a user is viewing on a webpage, offering assistance with tasks like shopping recommendations or explaining complex images or text.
The redesign, inspired by the work of Inflection AI, introduces a card-based interface for Copilot, offering a warmer and more customized user experience. This overhaul is led by Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft AI and co-founder of DeepMind, who joined Microsoft after its acquisition of talent from Inflection AI earlier this year.
Copilot’s new “Daily” feature will provide audio news summaries, while the “Think Deeper” function allows more thoughtful, detailed responses to complex user queries.
Microsoft is rolling out these updates across iOS, Android, and the web, with initial availability of voice features in English-speaking regions like the US and UK.
