Nvidia set to open AI school in Indonesia, VP confirms

Looks like Indonesia’s dream of introducing AI in schools is about to come true as Nvidia is set to establish an AI school in Solo, Central Java.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka made the announcement following Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s November 14 visit.

Speaking at a Youth event in Jakarta, Gibran said, “The establishment of an AI school in Solo is a remarkable opportunity for young Indonesians to gain skills in artificial intelligence, a field that will shape the future.”

The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s vision of becoming a global digital hub.

“This demographic bonus is a one-time opportunity. We must ensure our youth are equipped to drive the nation forward.”

Gibran urged the Ministry of Education to integrate coding and AI into elementary and junior high school curricula to complement Nvidia’s investment, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s broader vision of national digitalization.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti confirmed plans to include coding and AI as optional subjects in upcoming curriculum reforms. However, he noted that successful implementation will require sufficient infrastructure and resources in schools.

The planned AI school in Solo highlights Nvidia’s commitment to fostering global AI talent and innovation, which could position Indonesia as a key player in the AI revolution.
