Canvas, available to ChatGPT Plus and Team users starting today, allows for real-time collaboration on projects. The new interface opens in a separate window where users can highlight specific sections for ChatGPT to focus on, making the model act as a copy editor or code reviewer.
Users can directly edit text or code, use shortcuts to ask ChatGPT for writing adjustments, and even restore previous versions of their work.
For coding, Canvas provides tools like inline suggestions, debugging, and even translating code into various languages. It also brings transparency by allowing users to track changes more easily.
Canvas will be available to Enterprise and Edu users next week, with a wider rollout planned for ChatGPT Free users once the beta concludes.
The new interface aims to improve ChatGPT’s utility for complex tasks that require more context and iteration than typical Q&A interactions.
