PlayStation Network restored after lengthy outage

PlayStation users can once again connect to the PlayStation Network (PSN) after a significant outage that affected various services for nearly eight hours.

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gamers experienced a widespread outage on Sony’s PSN platform starting Monday night, which left users unable to access online games, multiplayer modes, or even single-player games that require online sign-ins.

Although Sony’s official PSN status page briefly declared the service fully restored by Tuesday morning, some issues persisted, particularly in game streaming, with players still encountering connectivity problems.

During the outage, gamers reported error codes like “WS-116522-7,” preventing them from signing in or launching online features. The outage impacted not only the latest consoles but also the PS3, PS Vita, and web-based services.

Sony has yet to provide an official explanation for the outage, and communication on social media about the issue remained sparse, with the only acknowledgment coming from a PlayStation support page in Japan.

As of Tuesday morning, most services appear to be functioning, though some users report lingering issues with connectivity and in-game communication features.

While the network is largely back online, Sony and players continue to monitor the situation.
