Samsung’s AI chief predicts artificial intelligence will be in ‘every corner of life’ by 2025

If you think AI is already everywhere, think again.

YoungJip Kim, the head of AI for Samsung Electronics, predicts that AI will be truly and deeply integrated into everyday life by 2025.

During the launch of Samsung’s AI-heavy latest devices, the Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy Tab S10, Kim discussed the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and its increasing presence in daily life. He noted that while AI has already become a significant part of modern technology, it is still in its early stages of adoption. He foresees AI transforming user experiences in the near future, with 2025 being a key year for widespread AI integration.

“I think people will be able to find more advanced experiences to use [AI with] soon because AI technology will bring another way to interact with an assistant. And then behind the scenes, the AI assistants and smart devices user experience will be very different from their previous experiences. That’s the most interesting part I’m looking forward to,” he said.

One example is Samsung’s focus on AI-powered photography enhancements, a feature Kim finds particularly valuable. He humorously shared how he uses AI to perfect photos of his wife.

“When I take a picture of my wife, I need to [refine] the picture and [use AI to improve] the quality of the picture. That’s the way to stay alive,” Kim joked.

Another one of the most impactful ways AI is changing lives, Kim said, is through language translation. He recounted a story about a Samsung employee who, after years of serving as a translator between his Korean parents and his Polish in-laws, was able to bridge the language gap using AI translation tools on the Galaxy S24.

Looking ahead, Kim predicts that AI will evolve based on how people use it, leading to more personalized and integrated tools, from communication to managing complex language-based data like translation and summarization.

“In the coming year, I think that AI technology will be deeply integrated into every corner of life.”
